LAPD Investigating Small Fire, Burglary At Hollywood Temple
HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Police are investigating a burglary and small fire at a Jewish school at a synagogue in Hollywood.
The damage was discovered by workers arriving about 9 a.m. at Temple Israel at 7300 Hollywood Blvd., said Los Angeles police officials. Authorities believe the burglary happened overnight.
Personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department, FBI, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are also investigating the crime.
Police say a man in his late 20s broke into the temple, took several items, put them on a desk and set them on fire with a candle.
The suspect fled, but his image was captured on surveillance video. He is believed to be a transient who frequents the area.
