Caught On Tape: Driver Admits He's Drunk After WeHo Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities are searching for a West Hollywood driver who was caught on tape trying to talk his way out of a traffic accident.

The man, who was captured on a resident's cell phone video, can be heard trying to negotiate with another driver after slamming into a stopped vehicle.

"Can I just give you cash, bro?" the driver says. "I'll give you $6,000 cash right now. I really don't want to call the… I really don't want to go to jail, bro! I'm drunk… I'm drunk as [expletive]."

Brian Hamilton, who captured video of the man begging another driver not to contact authorities, has been living near Laurel Avenue and Fountain — where the accident took place — for more than 20 years. He says this is not the first accident he's seen.

"I've often times wished that I could change the outcome," Hamilton says. "I think we're all eyewitnesses with these little cameras that we have."

The driver fled into an apartment building shortly after the crash. A woman came outside shortly thereafter and cleaned out the car's trunk. Authorities later towed the vehicle and are still looking for the driver.
