Aybar To DL, Angels Recall Rodriguez
ANAHEIM (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels have placed shortstop Erick Aybar on the 15-day disabled list and recalled reliever Francisco Rodriguez from Triple-A.
The Angels announced the moves Sunday before their game against the Blue Jays.
Aybar has a strained oblique muscle on his left side and Rodriguez was called up from Salt Lake to help a bullpen that used all of its relievers in Saturday night's 14-inning 6-5 victory over Toronto.
The move with Aybar is retroactive to April 3. He has played in just three of the team's first nine games, getting five hits in 12 at-bats, and will be eligible to return to the lineup as early as a week from Monday when the Angels open a three-game series at Texas.
Rodriguez appeared in 43 games for the Angels last season as a rookie, going 1-3 with a 4.37 ERA.
