Boy Killed, 2 Others Injured In Multi-Car Crash In Acton

ACTON (CBS) — An 8-year-old boy was killed and two others injured in a crash involving four vehicles on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Acton, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

The crash was reported about 4:35 p.m. Friday on the mountainous stretch of northbound freeway just north of Escondido Canyon Road.

Paramedics rushed the child to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:44 p.m. Friday. Another child, believed to be 5, was taken to Children's Hospital Los Angeles for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Both boys were passengers in a 2011 Nissan driven a 39-year-old Lancaster woman, who was taken to Henry Mayo Hospital with minor injuries.

She reportedly drove her Nissan into the rear of a 2004 Kenworth truck pulling a semi-trailer, the CHP said. After that impact, the Nissan spun out of control and was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 32-year-old Palmdale man, was not injured.
