RIVERSIDE (CBS) — A two-year-old Riverside girl struck by a van when she darted into the street after a dog succumbed to her injuries, authorities said Friday.

Crystal Castellanos died shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday at Loma Linda University Medical Center, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.

The toddler ran in front of the full-size van around 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 5600 block of Norwood Avenue, according to Riverside police.

Officials said the child had been chasing a dog in and out of the street prior to the accident.

She was rushed to Parkview Hospital with major head trauma and later transferred to Loma Linda.

And the parents were where during all of this? What kind of people allow a two year old to chase a dog in and out of the street? Prayers for the family nonetheless, but come on…
