Accused Hillsdale High Scool Student Found Pipe Bomb Instructions Online

REDWOOD CITY (AP) -- A former high school student accused of detonating two pipe bombs at a Bay Area high school took the stand Monday.

The 18-year-old is charged with the attempted murder of a teacher and security aide at San Mateo's Hillsdale High School in August 2009, among other charges. According to a report in The San Mateo County Daily Journal, Alex Youshock told jurors he always thought teachers were out to get him. So the San Mateo teen searched the internet for instructions on "how to make a pipe bomb", after seeing reports of a German school shooting.

Prosecutors say Youshock was armed with 10 homemade bombs, a sword and a chain saw, but was tackled after setting off two of the bombs. No one was injured.

Youshock has pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity to seven felony charges. He remains in custody without bail.
