Police Search For Groping Suspect In Ventura

VENTURA (CBS) — Ventura police are investigating two incidents of a man groping teenage girls.

Authorities say they responded to two separate cases on March 15 where the female victims were approached by a male suspect while walking on a sidewalk.

Police say the first incident happened in the 1500 block of San Nicholas Street. A 13-year-old girl was approached by a Hispanic male who then reached under the girl's dress and touched her underwear.

In the second incident, which occurred in the 1500 block of Santa Barbara Street, the suspect walked up behind a 15-year-old victim and grabbed her buttocks.

Officials say during both incidents, the suspect was talking on his cell phone and ran away from the crime scene.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18 to 19-year-old with short hair. Police say he wore a black baseball hat.

Anyone with information should call the Ventura Police Department at (805) 339-4416 or Crimestoppers at 1 (800) 222-TIPS.
