How Do You Rate President Obama's Job Handling in a Crisis?

In an article titled "Obama the invisible," a writer in the New York  Post asks "Where is the president? The world is beset."  It goes on: "This is not a time for leadership; this is the time for leadership.... It is not merely that he isn't rising to the challenge. He is avoiding the challenge." (Emphasis, NYPost. Complete article, here). 

Ouch.

His critics have always liked pointing out the president's golf schedule (61 rounds since taking office), while his supporters point out the most important leader in the world needs time to clear his mind. But now the "Where's Obama?" chorus is getting louder because of Japan's earthquake, the situation in Libya, and the domestic economy. The article in the Post compares the current commander in chief, to one who faced similar issues in 1968; Richard Nixon. And Nixon wins the comparison. Double ouch.

How do you think President Obama is handling his job on the big-ticket items right now? Is this another example of his reputation for cool analysis, or is he too detached? If he's not doing enough, what should he be doing? Is he supposed to shut down our country, so we can standby and watch? What advice would you give? (I only know this much -- I know it's kind of a tradition, but I'm not sure I'd be sitting down with ESPN to talk about NCAA brackets: right now, it just seems a bit... off.)
