ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Hawks reserve forward Josh Powell was arrested before Saturday’s game for refusing to move his car for an oncoming ambulance.

The 28-year-old Powell was not at Philips Arena while the Hawks played the Portland Trail Blazers.

Hawks spokesman Arthur Triche said the team was ” aware of the traffic incident concerning Josh and that he is not at the game tonight.” Triche also said he would have no additional comment until the team had gathered more information.

Triche said Powell was arrested late Saturday afternoon before the Hawks’ 7 p.m. tipoff with Portland. Atlanta police charged Powell with failure to obey an authorized officer who was directing traffic and failure to yield to and obstruction of emergency equipment.

Powell, a seventh-year NBA veteran in his first season as a little-used Atlanta reserve, is averaging 4.9 points in 55 games.

Josh should have never came home to play. Sometimes its better to go else where and play. Atlanta has to many ways you can get caught up especially with the police. The cop probaly was hating on Josh. Back to basketball, Josh is playing a whole lot less since his trade. The team that was winning 50 games is no more. The problem with the Hawks is that they have to many guards, no Centers and a slow playing two guard. There balance is way off, if you plan to play the NBA game you must have , the Big Man and the dominating point with a sharp shooting 2-3., everything else is role play. Atlanta has always had average players with exception to when Dominique, Danny, Drew and Eddie played. At least Mike handled the ego’s of the players now its just a free for all, The Chemistry Is BAD. Josh we need to take our GAME else where to be Appreciated maybe CHICARGO.
