Glendale City Council To Consider Fire Protection Curfew
GLENDALE (CBS2/KNX1070) — It could be lights out for young people who like to light up in the hills above Glendale.
The Glendale City Council is poised to consider a curfew on public parks and hillside wilderness areas.
Residents say teens are partying late into the night, leaving a mess and endangering the community by smoking and building camp fires.
KNX 1070's Ed Mertz said the proposed curfew is being considered in high fire zones because of complaints over teenagers who drink, litter and smoke – behavior that has in the past put hillside neighborhoods at risk.

"Certainly there's a lot of brush around here and if you throw anything that's lit, that you could ignite the whole mountainside," one homeowner said.
The 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew not only includes hiking trails way up into the hills, but also playgrounds, public parks and recreation areas.
"For people that do go up to the mountains, please bring a trash bag. The people that go up there, spray paint rocks, leave things behind, those are the ones that are ruining it for the people that truly want to go and enjoy their serenity and their nature," Dante Durta, a Glendale resident, said.
The matter goes before the city council Tuesday.
