New Brand Of Dark Chocolate Made Just For Pregnant Women

IRVINE (CBS) — Guilt-free chocolate with vitamins that help a growing fetus? Yes, please!

Coco Preggers, created by Irvine-based Xan Confections, contains folic acid which prevents birth defects, and DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid that is important to brain development.

The dark chocolates contain 51 calories each and cost about $1.50.

Company officials say the candy is not a replacement for prenatal vitamins or a healthy diet.

Along with Coco Preggers, Xan is shipping a line of chocolates marketed as having heart, immunity and brain boosting properties. There is also a variety called Coco PMS.

Xan chocolates are sold at Southern California Whole Foods and Bristol Farms.
