INDIO (CBS)  — Authorities said Wednesday that a 30-year-old La Quinta High School teacher was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old female student.

David Armenta of Indio was arrested on suspicion of unlawful sex with a minor, Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron said.

Police were notified Friday of the allegations, and an investigation led to Armenta’s arrest at his home  in the 47400 block of Bahama Court, Guitron said.

The alleged crime occurred in Indio, he said.

Because They have less mileage than a old 30 year old

  2. James says:

Yeah, well, so do 22-year-old women, and that’s not illegal.

  3. Alan Hart says:

Not exactly the crime of the century. If this were Nevada, it would be legal as the Age of Consent is arbitrary and based on old English law.

    1. Al Sanchez says:

You’re right Mr. Hart. This is pure bull. This isn’t child molestation. It’s this country — this country is too much “Let’s find the pervert!” We are wound up and we need to be “unspringed.” I feel sorry for this guy. His judgment was wrong though — he should have just waited one more year, or probably less.

  4. aimee says:

The law is the law and it is his student which is even worse. Kids should be able to go to school and not have some pervert there.

    1. Al Sanchez says:

Yeah, everybody’s a pervert in your world, I’m sure. I always am wary of people who point fingers behind a blog! Don’t worry, we won’t find you. You’re safe!

      1. haywood says:

Only an idiot would suggest that this is not a crime. Hence, you’re an idiot.

  5. Brian says:

Whether or not this man is a pervert is meaningless. You need to obey the laws of your land. In Indio, CA, he committed a crime and the punishment for that crime is severe. His name has already been publicized and he is forever associated with having sex with a minor. He must endure all of the negative connotations that go along with adults who seek to or have sex with minors. This is not a parking violation. You must consider the consequences of your actions. Defend him if you want, or feel sorry for him. Maybe it was consensual, maybe it wasn’t, maybe it didn’t even happen. The real problem is he allowed himself to be put in the position of being accused. When you are around kids all day, you need to be aware of the consequences of your actions.

i’m sure he is married too…tsk tsk should have just waited, she was almost legal age!

  7. Mary says:

Don’t mess around with minors. Period. His name and mug shot will probably appear on the list for Megan’s Law and he’ll pay dearly for the rest of his life.

    20’s >>> 40’s = Less Odor..

Too bad they don’t have a character test for teachers, priests, leaders, etc.

Back in the dark ages of 1968, when I was a junior in high school we had a male teacher (mid 30’s) that began a relationship with one of our female classmates. It was a well known fact by the students, but somehow the faculty seemed to either turn a blind eye or were just plain blind. It went on for 2 years and instead of grad night at Disneyland they went to Vegas and got married. When school started back up in Sept. he still was allowed to teach at the school. No charges ever filed. So wrong.

This does seem to be much more prevelent today though – teacher/student relationship of any level. I do think that allot girls today are more willing (in many cases) to get involved and then when caught deny they were willing participants. The bottom line is, the teachers are stepping over the boundires and the students are as well. Not in all cases, but I would bet the majority of them are now.

What they didn’t tell you was the student was in special ed 😦

  12. Mike Oxbig says:

Shoulda hit it after she was 18

  13. Ed Rooney says:

Nothing wrong with a little cherry pie is there?
Anyone know if she had a nice rack?

Al Sanchez needs to be looked into. He seems to defend the perverts of the world who are willing to sexually assault our children Yes 17 is a child. All 50 states need to recognize 18 as the legal age of consent. She can’t even buy cigarettes. The teachers seem to be with willing participants? These kids don’t really know what they are doing. The teachers do and they know they are wrong. The young kids are being encouraged to perform sexual acts on adults. That is nasty. Are we so sexually hard up as a society that we need to look to school children for sexual gratification? It seems to be accepted also. We even make excuses for these sickos. Burn a M for molester on their foreheads, maybe that will make them think twice before they act on their perversions.

Where is this guy from? Because many men from these latin nations JUST DON’T see a problem with these actions!!! I had a face-to-face conversation about this subject with an ex-coworker from El Salvador , He said to me ” as long as she is FULLY-DEVELOPED . it should be okay to have sex with a minor”. He showed no shame, because he didn’t think it was wrong. Theres the problem!!!! These people need to be americanized before being allowed to enter the United States.
