Somebody In California Has 5 Numbers!
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ̶ Nobody had the winning ticket in tonight's Mega Millions lottery which means that Friday's jackpot will grow to $76 million.
According to California Lottery officials, it's the sixth drawing since the last time a ticket with all six numbers winning numbers was sold. That's because the odds sucks -- 1 in 175,711,536 -- according to the Mega Millions website.
Six tickets -- one sold in California, three in New York two in Michigan -- had five numbers, but none had the Mega number.
The lucky California winner will take home $226,991, while the other five winners each get $250,000 and California law requires most major payoffs of lottery games to be paid on a pari-mutuel basis.
The numbers drawn tonight were 15, 22, 23, 48, 55 and the Mega number was 31. The estimated jackpot was $64 million.
