Suspected Drunken Driver Rams 2 Police Cars

LONG BEACH (AP) — Four people, including three Long Beach police officers, were treated at a hospital after a suspected drunken driver ran a red light and struck two patrol cars.

Long Beach Police said the incident occurred early Sunday at an intersection west of downtown.

The suspect was arrested and later identified as 43-year-old David Trevino.

Investigators say Trevino's Ford pickup truck sped through a red light and slammed into a police cruiser occupied two officers and another patrol car with just one officer.

City News Service says Trevino and the three officers were treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact Brian Watt, detective for the Long Beach Police Department Accident Investigations, at (562) 570-7355.
