Kobe To Be Immortalized At Grauman's Theatre

cbsLA.com will stream the event, live from Hollywood at 2:30PM

HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant Saturday will become the first athlete ever to have his hands and footprints cast in concrete in the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

Jimmy Kimmel will host the 2:30 p.m. ceremony, with speeches by George Lopez, Lakers Executive Vice President of Business Operations Jeanie Buss and CBS2 Sportscaster Jim Hill.

Hollywood Boulevard is expected to be partially closed to traffic to accommodate the ceremony.

"It's not something I've ever dreamed about or thought about," Bryant said Friday. "It's a great honor. To be next to some of the people I'm going to be next to is pretty cool."

The only previous person outside the movie industry to be honored in the Forecourt of the Stars is Rosa Grauman, the mother of the theater's founder, Sid Grauman.
