Jill Scott, Record Label Settle Recording Agreement Lawsuit

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — R&B star Jill Scott has settled with her longtime record label over their recording agreement.

Hidden Beach Records sought unspecified damages for the money lost when Scott allegedly failed to fulfill her obligations. Scott countersued, claiming Hidden Beach broke promises made to her.

Lawyers for the record label filed papers Tuesday with Judge Ruth A. Kwan, stating the case was resolved. No terms were divulged.

The 38-year-old singer's first CD, "Who Is Jill Scott?," was released in 2000 and went double-platinum. She also portrayed Big Mama Thornton in the film "Hounddog."
