UCR Chancellor Recovering From Emergency Heart Surgery

RIVERSIDE (CBS) — UC Riverside Chancellor Timothy P. White was recovering from emergency heart surgery Tuesday, the university announced.

White, 61, was "resting comfortably" at Riverside Community Hospital, UCR spokesman James Grant said.

Doctors performed an emergency cardiac catheterization procedure due to a blood clot in White's coronary artery. The chancellor had a stent placed there last week, and was admitted to the hospital Monday suffering from chest pains, Grant said.

Dallas Rabenstein, UCR's executive vice chancellor and provost, is serving as the school's acting chancellor, Grant said.
