Neuheisel, Bruins Hire A Defensive Coordinator

WESTWOOD (AP) -- UCLA has hired veteran assistant coach Joe Tresey as its new defensive coordinator.

UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel announced the hiring Tuesday, nearly two months after he fired Chuck Bullough following the Bruins' 4-8 season.

Tresey was the defensive backs coach for the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks last season.

He was Brian Kelly's defensive coordinator at Cincinnati from 2007-08, followed by one season as South
Florida's defensive coordinator.

Tresey also has been a defensive coordinator at Georgia Southern and Akron.

Tresey is just the latest hire in a wholesale overhaul of Neuheisel's staff.

The Bruins hired former San Francisco 49ers assistant coach Mike Johnson as their new offensive coordinator
last month, replacing Norm Chow.
