LOS ANGELES  (CBS) —  Construction began Thursday on a Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market in South Los Angeles, where residents have long complained of a lack of grocery stores and sit-down restaurants amid an over-concentration of fast-food eateries.

Fresh & Easy will be part of a 45,000-square-foot commercial office and retail center — to be called West Angeles Plaza — on the corner of Crenshaw and Jefferson Boulevards, across the street from the West Angeles Church.

Fresh & Easy opened its first South Los Angeles store, located at Central Avenue and Adams Boulevard, almost a year ago.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and other local officials attended today’s groundbreaking alongside Fresh & Easy Vice President Mary Kasper, who said the store will be staffed with 20 to 30 employees.

This area is filled with Grocery markets and resturants?
Have you looked at this area before?
Go south of Jefferson on Crenshaw to Ralphs and in the Mall Albertson.
Little markets are in the area as well?
