Los Angeles County's Warning About Ecstasy Draws Criticism

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles County health warning about the dangers of the drug Ecstasy at raves is drawing criticism.

County Supervisor Michael Antonovich has asked the county Health Department not to distribute a flier that urges rave attendees to take only low doses of Ecstasy and avoid alcohol.

The flier also says the only way to completely avoid risk is to avoid the drug altogether.

But Antonovich says the message is contrary to the county's zero-tolerance policy on drugs.

The flier was created after a 15-year-old girl died of an Ecstasy overdose after attending a Los Angeles rave last year.

The Los Angeles Times says the Health Department will revise the card to state more firmly that illegal drug use is dangerous.
