Remains Found In Maywood Apartment Not Yet Identified

MAYWOOD (CBS/AP) — Authorities have yet to confirm the presumed identity of a woman whose dismembered body was found in a freezer in a Maywood apartment, a coroner's official Sunday.

"The condition of the body precludes making her readily identifiable," Coroner's Lt. Brian Elias said.

Investigators say 19-year-old Moises Meraz-Espinoza walked into a Huntington Park police station Friday and said he murdered his mother and put her body in a freezer at their Maywood apartment.

Neighbors have told media outlets that the two shared the apartment where the body was found.

Meraz-Espinoza was booked for suspicion of murder and held without bail, Sgt. Diane Hecht of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said.
