1 Hurt In Deputy-Involved Shooting In Palmdale

PALMDALE (CBS) — Authorities said a man was wounded in a deputy-involved shooting in Palmdale.

The incident, which took place in the 3200 block of Thomas Avenue, occured about 9:55 p.m. Saturday, Capt. Mike Parker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said.

Deputies responding to a call of a gunman confronted a man who matched the description and ordered him to stop and show his hand, Deputy Aura Sierra-Lidman said.

According to authorities, the suspect failed to comply with orders and quickly turned, resulting in the deputy-involved shooting, Sierra Lidman said.

The man is listed in stable but serious condition.

Separate investigations are underway by the District Attorney's Office, sheriff's detectives, the department's Internal Affairs Bureau and the Los Angeles Office of Independent Review.
