UC Davis Outlasts UC Irvine 108-107 In Double OT

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) -- Mark Payne scored 32 points, including a basket with 3 seconds remaining in the second overtime, and UC Davis defeated UC Irvine 108-107 on Saturday night.

Patrick Rembert put UC Irvine ahead with a jumper with 5 seconds left, but Eddie Miller found Payne for the winning layup. Payne was fouled, missed the free throw, but UC Irvine could not get a last shot off.

Miller had 25 points and Joe Harden scored 23 before fouling out for the Aggies (8-12, 3-5 Big West), who rallied from a 40-23 first-half deficit. They closed the first half on a 14-2 run to trail 42-37 at the break, and forced the first overtime on Ryan Howley's 3-pointer with 54 seconds left in regulation that made it 86-all.

Eric Wise had 34 points and 12 rebounds for the Anteaters (10-12, 3-5). Rembert scored 19 points for UC Irvine.
