Parolee Gets 2 Years For Stealing From Church Donation Boxes

BURBANK (AP) — A parolee has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading no contest to stealing from donation boxes at a pair of Southern California churches.

A Burbank judge on Wednesday sentenced 52-year-old Peter Manuel Galindro after he entered pleas to two counts of burglary stemming from the thefts at Holy Family Catholic Church in Glendale and St. Finbar's Catholic Church in Burbank. He's also been ordered to pay $200 restitution to the churches.

Investigators say the donation boxes included money for Haitian relief efforts.

Prosecutor John Allen Ramseyer says Galindro has a string of theft convictions that led to prison sentences.
