LOS ANGELES (AP) —  Another child of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith is set to star in the remake of a Hollywood classic.

Ten-year-old Willow Smith is set to play the title role in “Annie.”

The film is being developed by Overbrook Entertainment, which the Smiths co-own, along with Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Sony Pictures.

Last year, 12-year-old Jaden Smith starred in a remake of “The Karate Kid,” which raked in $343 million worldwide.

Sony’s Columbia Pictures first brought “Annie” to theaters in 1982.

The movie was based on the Broadway musical in which an orphan’s life is transformed when she goes to live with the wealthy industrialist Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks.

This family is annoying – they’re buying their kids acting careers. Would these kids get the roles if they auditioned on their own, or if they had another name? Yes, there is still nepotism in Hollywood.

uh, the name Nicholas Cage ring a bell? Or just about every other actor in Hollywood. Funny, you take notice of will Smith’s family when Hollywood has been doing this forever. Hmmm…

  2. Enough With The Remakes says:

Really? An African American Annie. Way to destroy a classic. “The Sun Will Come Out” will be changed to “Dat Sun Be Comin Out In Da Morn, Bizatcheszz'”

    1. aj says:

Wow, that’s clever. Come up with that yourself or did you have help from your local trailer park?

Jay-Z is gonna come out singing “Its a hard knock life for us”

First it was a black karate kid when he is suppose to be Italian. Now a black annie? Whats next? Are the Smiths gonna remake honey i shrunk the kids too? there just trying to come back since they arent famous no more

    1. Leena 97 says:

wow….the point of a REMAKE is to have the same CONCEPT as the original movie but obviously, not the same actors. There’s nothing wrong with a black, white, latino, asian or any type of annie. Who cares? And who says they’re not famous anymore….they’re much more famous than you.

  4. Jim says:

Sad that everyone’s baffled by a ‘black annie’…and since when has will smith been black??

  5. Not a fan says:

I don’t have a problem with the concept of a “black annie” acting should transcend color, race etc. However, what I do have a problem with is why are we subjected to digest these celebrity offspring as bonafide actors? When did they pay their dues? Simply because will smith is famous then by proxy so are his kids? That willow smith looks annoying with her outerspace motif..and her stupid monalisa smile. I’m sorry, but as much as I like will smith..please please don’t make me stomach his daughter! Name does not equal talent.. But this shows that money buys you
    fame and status!
