SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for the driver of an extended-cab Ford pickup truck that killed a pedestrian Friday night.

Sharniece Jeter, 18, of Victorville, was killed by a hit-and-run driver when she crossed Figueroa Street near 66th Street at 10:30 p.m. Friday, authorities said.

The suspect vehicle, a Ford F-150 or F-250 pickup with tinted windows, was going north on Figueroa when it struck the woman, witnesses told police. The driver was described only as Hispanic man with a beard.

Anyone with more information as to the whereabouts of the truck or the name of the driver was asked to call police at (213)485-7336.

That is so terribly sad. I hope they find the man who did this and that he pays for his mistake. A girl lost her life! My heart goes out to the family of the teenager.

Just facts. Look it up. Didn’t say he was illegal. Plenty of legal residents without licenses and insurance; however, the fact that 68% of hit-and-runs are caused by latinos. Why would you hit someone, then take off? Not saying any other race hasn’t done it, but 68%.

Hmm, I wonder where you get your numbers?,, where?

I’m an EMT-P and I can say that you and your “facts” are full of you know what. I get called to many TC’s involving white drunks. It all depends what area you are assigned to.

I hate when ignorant people come up with their own little numbers and post then on their racist websites. And on the other hand you have the idiots who believe those numbers. That’s so sad!

But I don’t know what’s sadder, ignorant people believing everything they read online or people like me and my husband risking our lives to save people like Really.

I know what is like to be at the receiving end of racist remarks by ignorant white people. I’m a Navajo woman (that’s right, a real American Native, unlike others who crossed an ocean to steal land, rape, and murder) and people often think that I’m Hispanic, I don’t mind, not at all, they are hard working people. I’ve never seen a Hispanic begging for money at a freeway exit. I’ve seen them selling oranges, other fruits, and flowers, but never begging.

    Here’s some real numbers:

According to the Child Trends DataBank (a underage trends watchdog group): “White students and Hispanic students are almost twice as likely as black students to report driving after drinking alcohol (11 and nine percent, respectively, versus six percent, in 2009). Notice the white kids 2% more likely to drink and drive than Hispanics.

According to a report published by the University of Michigan’s Highway Safety Institute: “drunk drivers diverge from the typical pattern of minority overrepresentation; whites constitute 89.9% of those arrested.”

According the the NHTSA, NIAAA, and the DHHS: “adult white males are three times more likely than blacks and hispanics to drive under the influence of alcohol, or a combination of alcohol and a secondary drug.” They are urging the Federal Government to spend more money educating white high school and college students about the dangers of drinking and driving. NOT hispanics and blacks.

According to MADD: “Caucasians drink more than African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians, making whites proportionally more likely to drive intoxicated.”

I can go on and on if you want me to. I had to write a report about alcoholism when I was in college. I have another 29 quotes I can type in here. These were taken from reports and statistical figures from the NTSB, DOJ, FBI, ICP, UCLA (and various other universities in the US), and many more .

By the way, according to the DOJ and other government agencies, whites are less likely to be arrested if pulled over while intoxicated. Just like they are less likely to be convicted if arrested. And they are more likely to have the charges dropped or to receive shorter jail sentences and/or fines than blacks and hispanics convicted of the same crimes…including DUI’s. My husband is a LA Sheriff Deputy and he swears that that is true. He also think that you are hilarious!
