LOS ANGELES (CBS) — As a TV host, Joan Steffend is known for “Decorating Cents,” making things pretty on the cheap.

In her  book, “…and she sparkled,” Steffend has learned about finding the beauty from within. She tells the timeless story of self-discovery and acceptance and getting to the place where you understand you didn’t need any spit or polish — that you were already magnificent.

Steffend shared some of her wisdom as an in-studio guest on the KCAL 9 News at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Steffend’s book tells you to stay true to yourself and follow your dreams and passions. She also says the book is good for men or women and some people she has met have told her they’ve bought multiple copies as gifts…to help spread her message.

Simply put, Steffend says to find the child within and “dance…whatever our age.”

You can find the book on Amazon.com, tristanpublishing.com or joansteffend.com.

She will also have a book signing later today in Costa Mesa at Fleur de Lys. (5-8p.m.)

  1. Pat Miller says:

My son and daughter in law who live in Minnetonka, MN gave me a Christmas
gift of your book, “and she sparkled”. I was so delighted with the story it told
that I have shared it with 5 friends and I will be sharing it with more women.
Those women are already sharing it with their family and friends. You have
presented in a simple format – a concept that says volumes. I thank my son
and daughter in law for introducing me to your book. And I thank you.
