Officials ID Victims In Wrong-Way Crash On 91 Freeway

ANAHEIM (AP) — Two people are dead after a wrong-way driver slammed his Mercedes-Benz head-on into another vehicle on the 91 Freeway.

The California Highway Patrol says the white Mercedes was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of State Route 91, the Riverside Freeway, in Anaheim at 12:47 a.m. Wednesday when it crashed head-on into a Toyota Scion.

CHP Officer Denise Quesada says the driver of the Scion, 26-year-old Alan Reyes of Diamond Bar, and his passenger, 24-year-old Vanessa Cease of Long Beach, were killed.

City News Service says the 21-year-old South Gate man driving the Mercedes is hospitalized in critical condition at University of California, Irvine, Medical Center.

The eastbound freeway lanes near the Raymond Street off ramp reopened at 4:30 a.m.
