EL MONTE (AP) — A half-dozen suspects accused of trying to kill another man by crushing him under the front axle of an SUV are still at large.

El Monte police Lt. Dan Burlingham says Monday that the suspects range in age from 17 to 20.

The victim was beaten late Sunday and then left pinned underneath the SUV.

Burlingham says authorities used a neighbor’s four-ton hydraulic jack to pull the man from under the Chevrolet Blazer and the man was taken to a local hospital in critical but stable condition.

Another victim fled the scene.

Burlingham says police have not determined a motive for the attack.

The police don’t know the motive?? Hello it’s El Monte, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that it was likely gang related. I live in this God forsaken city and absolutely hate it with a passion. El Monte police don’t give a rat’s behind about this city
