2011 Rose Parade Floats On Display

PASADENA (CBS) — The floats from the 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade will be on display starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, but you may want to bring an umbrella.

All 47 of the flowery creations will be lined up along Sierra Madre and Washington boulevards through 5 p.m.

Shuttles will run between Pasadena's park-and-ride lots and the viewing area. The cost is $3 per person for a round trip. Ticket sales end at 3 p.m. Admission for adults is $10. Children 5 and younger are free.

The float from city of Sierra Madre was among the award winners.

Although it broke down and had to be towed along the route, it took home the Governor's Award for "best depiction of life in California."

Discover Financial Services, which was in the parade for the first time, nabbed the Grand Marshal's trophy with its whimsical look at state fairs, including a team of pie-eating contest. Like many of the floats, it was built by Fiesta Floats.

The Quikrete Cos. float built by Caltech students won the Bob Hope Award for humor based on its storyline featuring three little pigs trying to keep the big bad wolf at bay.

A crowd favorite, however, appeared to be the Natural Balance dog food float, which included trained dogs riding wakeboards down a slide into a pool. The float set a record for being the heaviest ever in the parade.

The Theme Trophy went to "Donate Life" for its float exhorting people to give tissue transplants, echoing the parade's "Building Dreams" theme.

Other major award winners included:

— The Sweepstakes Award for most-beautiful entry went to Dole for its float "Living Well In Paradise;
— The President's Award for most-effective use of flowers went to the Alzheimer's Association and Pfizer for "It's Time to Face Alzheimer's,"
— The Queen's Award for most-effective use of flowers went to Cunard Line for "A Grand Celebration at Sea,"
— The Director's Award for outstanding artistic merit went to Kaiser Permanente for "Purrfectly Healthy,"
— The Mayor's Award for the best municipal float went to Beverly Hills for "Beverly Hills -- City of Dreams Come True."
