Illegal Fireworks Confiscated In LA

LOS ANGELES (CBS) The LAPD bomb squad was called Friday to remove a trunk-load of illegal fireworks and "artillery shells" found in a vendor's vehicle in Exposition Park, officers said.

Police checked out a vendor suspected of illegally selling fireworks, artillery shells and bullets near Western and Exposition boulevards shortly before 11 a.m. when they opened the vendor's trunk and found the items, said LAPD Officer Bruce Borihanh.

Borihanh said the "artillery" could "be anything from shotgun shells to bullets."

The bomb squad confiscated the fireworks and declared the area safe at about 1:15 p.m.
