Sierra Madre Residents Prepare For Possible Evacuation

SIERRA MADRE (CBS) — The foothill community of Sierra Madre remains under a green flag alert, indicating that residents should get ready for a potential evacuation.

Heavy rain and possible thunderstorms are forecast for Tuesday night, after several days of steady, and at time heavy, precipitation all across Southern California.

If a yellow or red flag alert is issued, the city of Sierra Madre says that the following streets should be cleared of all vehicles: Mount Wilson Trail, Churchill Road, Skyland Drive, Fern Glen, Fern Drive, Idlehour Lane, Canyon Crest Drive, Orange Drive, Woodland Drive, Brookside Lane, Sunnyside Lane, Sturtevant Drive and Yucca Trail. The city says vehicles will be towed from these streets at the owner's expense if a yellow flag is issued.

Two years ago, a wildfire ravaged the hillsides above Sierra Madre, then later dumped mud and debris onto homes during the winter rains.
