Body Of Agoura Hills Woman Found In Van Driven Into River
SANTA ROSA (AP) — Authorities have discovered the body of a Southern California woman who appears to have accidentally driven into the Russian River while heading to her Santa Rosa hotel over the weekend.
The California Highway Patrol said 62-year-old Phyllis Bin's body was found inside a minivan pulled from the river late Monday afternoon.
The Agoura Hills resident was last seen driving in the minivan from a restaurant in Jenner, where she had dinner with friends Saturday night.
Authorities found fresh tire tracks on a grassy shoulder of Highway 1 that overlooks the Russian River.
They don't believe Bin was drinking although a toxicology report is pending.
CHP Officer Tim Randall said investigators are also looking into whether the vehicle suffered a mechanical failure.
