Great Dane Accused Of Grabbing And Snatching 6-Month-Old Baby

MONROVIA (AP) —  Police say a Great Dane snatched a 6-month-old baby from the arms of her mother in front of a Monrovia home and dragged her away.

Police say the 3-year-old, 170-pound dog carried the infant 200 feet before letting go on Monday.

The baby girl was flown to a hospital, where she was treated for bite injuries to the chest. Police say she was in stable condition Monday but was suffering from complications on Tuesday.

Lt. Michael Lee says the child's mother was visiting her neighbor when the dog grabbed the baby. The adults chased the dog, which dropped the child and ran home.

The dog, which has no record of aggressive behavior, will be quarantined for 10 days during an investigation.
