December Heat Wave Breaks Several Records

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — It may be December, but baby, it's hot outside!

Six heat records were set in the Southland Sunday, including a high of 83 degrees at Los Angeles International Airport, which broke the previous record of 82 set in 1952.

Long Beach Airport heated up to 87 degrees, blowing away the record of 80 degrees set in 1998.

Other records include:

- UCLA, 87 degrees, besting the record of 83 set in 1952

- Burbank Airport, 85 degrees, eclipsing the record of 83 set in 1953

- San Gabriel, 89 degrees, nipping the record of 88 set in 1988

- Camarillo, 88, beating the record of 81 set in 1980

Highs will be in the 80s again Monday, before a cool-down begins Tuesday.
