Recall Recalled: Feds Say Lead-Tainted Superhero Glasses For Adults

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The federal agency that declared lead-laced Wizard of Oz and superhero drinking glasses were children's products has reversed itself and said the glasses are, in fact, for adults.

The Consumer Protection Safety Commission says that as a result the glasses are not subject to a previously announced recall.

Last month, the agency ruled that the glasses were children's products and thus subject to strict federal lead limits.

Lab testing by The Associated Press found lead in the decorations up to 1,0000 times the federal maximum for children's products. There are no CPSC limits on lead content on the outside of adult drinking glasses.

An agency spokesman said Friday the reversal came following a "thoughtful analysis by child behavior experts."
