Too Fat To Shoplift? Women Tucked $2,600 Worth In Belly Bulge

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Two plus-size Oklahoma women are behind bars for allegedly trying to shoplift items — including four pairs of boots — by hiding the goods in their rolls of fat.

Police authorities in Edmond, Oklahoma, say loss prevention officers at a local TJ Maxx store found the duo stuffing items under their belly fat and breasts, including four pairs of boots, three pairs of jeans, a wallet and gloves totaling an estimated $2,600.

Glenda Chew with the Edna, Oklahoma police department talks to KFWB's Maggie McKay with details of the bizarre arrest.

Ailene Brown, 28, and 37-year-old Shmeco Thomas were arrested for shoplifting and are facing felony charges.

Officer James Hamm said, "These two were actually concealing them in areas of their body where excess skin was, under their chest area and armpits."

Police say Brown also had a knife in her purse they say she used to cut security tags in the store.
