LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 62-year-old man who adopted a Southern California shelter dog has been placed on three years’ probation for having sex with the female German shepherd mix.

Strickland was arrested by the police Animal Cruelty Task Force on Feb. 2 after he was seen sexually violating the dog beneath a freeway overpass. The City Attorney’s office says Strickland has adopted shelter dogs in south Los Angeles in the past and was reported for mistreating the animals.READ MORE: 3 Shot In Downtown LA, 1 Dead
Witnesses were willing to testify in the latest incident.
