Man Admits To Holding Grandfather At Knifepoint

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (AP) — A Southern California man has pleaded no contest to felony assault for holding a knife at his grandfather's neck and threatening death.

Prosecutors told the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin that the plea deal with 22-year-old Jack Clifford Eckman calls for three years' probation. If he violates terms of his probation, he could be sentenced to four years in prison.

Eckman was initially charged with five felonies and a misdemeanor for allegedly harassing his grandparents. Prosecutors agreed Monday to drop all by one felony count.

Eckman, who was arrested June 30 after pulling the knife during an argument with his grandfather, will be sentenced Dec. 22.
