Grigorieva: Mel Gibson 'Unfit' For Overnight Visits With Daughter

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Mel Gibson is in court to fight for his right to overnight visits with his 12-month-old daughter Lucia.

The 54-year-old actor is in a closed-door hearing with his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, who alleges he is unfit to care for the child during overnight visits. He allegedly attacked the Russian singer while Lucia was in her arms.

Gibson was escorted into court by sheriff's deputies. He was smiling as he talked with one of his attorneys, Blair Berk, before the judge ordered the public to leave.

The couple shares custody of their daughter, with Gibson seeing her every other day and providing a nanny to help care for the child during overnight visits, according to reports.

Grigorieva claims she was verbally and physically abused by the star. Gibson says she tried to extort millions from him in return for the telephone recordings she made after their relationship ended in April.
