Another Place to Get Free Wi-Fi...

Google is ramping up for the holidays, by offering air passengers free Wi-Fi access from Thanksgiving through New Year's. It's not a first for the company, last year it did it on Virgin America. This year, it'll add Delta and AirTran.

Will the offer of free Wi-Fi get one extra passenger into a seat? Probably not;  You already can use Wi-Fi on some airlines, for a few bucks/flight.  Are other people sending and getting that many more emails than I am?  ...that have to be answered that immediately? One of my favorite parts of any flight is knowing that I'll be out of touch for a while, and there ain't nuthin' nobody can do about it.

Laptops are now the reason I always get an aisle seat; the hassle of climbing over somebody -- or, God forbid, over two somebodies -- working on a spreadsheet, or the big report makes me crazy.  They're probably not too happy either.

I prefer to reserve my tray table for important things: like those gourmet inflight meals. Last time, it was a $6 extravaganza:  crackers, chips, cookies, and alleged apple slices (for the health conscious). I did enough carbo-loading to enter a marathon. You know you're in trouble when by comparison, the food looks good at the airport.

Good luck to Google, and the airlines with their free Wi-Fi.
