SANTA ANA (AP) — A California woman has pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter for a drunken driving head-on freeway crash that killed two sisters and seriously injured two children a year ago.
Orange County prosecutors say 22-year-old Jessica Lynn Shekell of Anaheim entered the plea Thursday. She faces nearly 20 years in prison when she’s sentenced in December.READ MORE: Magnitude-3.5 Quake Rattles Idyllwild
Shekell had a blood-alcohol level of 0.26 percent, more than three times the legal limit to drive, when she drove her Toyota Tundra pickup truck onto opposing lanes of State Route 91 in Anaheim.READ MORE: Huntington Park Police Shoot, Kill Suspect
The Los Angeles Times says Shekell’s truck hit another pickup head-on, killing 49-year-old Sally Miguel and her 30-year-old sister Patricia Miguel.
