Ontario Priest Charged With Molesting Boy

ONTARIO (AP) — A Roman Catholic priest in Southern California has been charged with molesting a 12-year-old boy.

Jose Castillo was arrested Monday at his Ontario home. He remains jailed Tuesday and faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted of committing lewd acts with a child.

The 57-year-old priest was removed in June from active duty at Our Lady of Guadalupe church in San Bernardino County.

In a statement, Ontario police say they believe Castillo repeatedly molested a 12-year-old boy and suspect he molested at least two other teens.

Castillo has denied the allegations.

Three years ago, the diocese agreed to pay $15 million to settle other priest abuse claims.
