Funeral Held For 16-Year-Old Boy Struck By SUV

SHERMAN OAKS (CBS) — A funeral mass was held Monday for a 16-year-old boy who was killed by a teenage driver as he jogged to cross-country practice at Notre Dame High School.

Conor Lynch was struck by a Hyundai SUV while jogging across Woodman Avenue with three teammates last Tuesday.

Moran Biton, 18, was allegedly at the wheel of the SUV. Police say she drove away from the crash and continued heading north on Woodman, but pulled over when she saw several officers working on another matter.

She approached several officers who were responding to an unrelated call and told them, 'I think I hit someone,'" LAPD Capt. Bill Sutton said.

Biton, of Sherman Oaks, is free on a bond of $50,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 9.

Hundreds packed Saint Francis de Sales Church in Sherman Oaks Monday morning in a show of support for Lynch's family. Church spokesman John Demarest said it was a time of anguish.
