Funeral Set For Notre Dame Runner Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver

SHERMAN OAKS (CBS) — A 16-year-old Notre Dame cross-country runner killed by a hit-and-run driver will be remembered Monday at a funeral mass.

Conor Lynch and three fellow running team members were on their way to practice after school Tuesday when a Hyundai sport utility driven by a young woman hit him as he jogged across Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks.

Conor's funeral will be Monday morning at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Sherman Oaks.

Police say 18-year-old Moran Biton was at the wheel of the SUV that struck Conor. Police say she drove away from the crash and continued north on Woodman, but pulled over when she saw officers working on another matter.

Biton "approached several officers who were responding to an unrelated call and told them, 'I think I hit someone,' " LAPD Capt. Bill Sutton told reporters.

Biton, of Sherman Oaks, is free on a bond of $50,000 and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 9 in Van Nuys.
