Judge Drops Charges In Baby's Gruesome Dog Mauling

MURRIETA (AP) — A judge has thrown out criminal charges against a woman whose baby son lost his testicles in a dog attack.

The charge of felony child endangerment was dismissed Friday as Carrie Rae McKinney appeared in a Riverside County court.

According to court records, the 23-year-old San Diego woman was visiting a friend in Murrieta on April 3 when she left her 7-month-old son on the floor in a baby carrier near the dog.

She was in another room for about 10 minutes when she heard a scream and returned to find that the dog had severed her son's testicles. The boy will need hormone therapy for life.

At Friday's hearing, Superior Court Judge Dennis McConaghy says there was no crime, only a terrible accident.
