Ray Bradbury To Kickoff Pomona Events Promoting Reading

POMONA (CBS) — Renowned sci-fi author Ray Bradbury will be making a special appearance at Western University of Health Sciences to read and promote from his new book, "Listen to the Echoes: The Ray Bradbury Interviews."

Bradbury and Sam Weller, his authorized biographer, will discuss the new book and "The Bradbury Chronicles"  at the university's Health Education Center, 701 E. Second St., in Pomona from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8.

Bradbury's appearance is the kickoff of Pomona's "Fahrenheit 451" Big Read, a series of events to encourage reading for pleasure. This year's Big Read events relate to Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451," a science fiction tale of a society where firefighters burn books and learning is suppressed.

The event is free and open to the public. "Fahrenheit 451" events are scheduled through Nov. 13.
