25 Without Water Service After Main Ruptures

CANOGA PARK (CBS) — Roughly 25 homes and businesses were without water service Wednesday morning after a 12-inch water main broke on Topanga Canyon Boulevard Tuesday night.

Street flooding near broken pavement was reported at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 7200 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Water was still flowing unimpeded 90 minutes later as Department of Water and Power workers tried to shut off the flow to the broken pipe, according to DWP spokeswoman Stephanie Interiano.

There was no timetable for completing the repairs, Interiano said, adding she was not aware of any property damage caused by the broken main and subsequent street flooding.

One southbound lane of Topanga Canyon Boulevard remained closed, Interiano said.
