Parents Of Teens Killed In Old Bunker Sue

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The parents of two teenagers killed in an abandoned Mojave Desert military bunker are suing the federal government claiming negligence for failing to dismantle or otherwise secure the site.

The U.S. District Court suit filed Friday in Los Angeles says the Air Force and Bureau of Land Management knew about the dangerous condition of the property near Barstow and its popularity as a young people partying spot.

Sixteen-year-old Bodhisattva Sherzer-Potter and 18-year-old Christopher Cody Thompson were found dead in the abandoned bunker in January 2008. Prosecutors say three men charged with murder in the case walked the teens to the bunker at gunpoint and killed them.

The Victorville Daily Press says the suit contends federal agencies had a duty to maintain, manage and supervise the site.
