INGLEWOOD (AP) — Police in Inglewood have arrested a man in the death of a 5-year-old girl who died after officers found her unconscious in a bathtub.

Inglewood police said in a statement Friday that coroner’s investigators determined the girl had been killed Thursday by blunt force trauma to her head, and detectives called the death a homicide.

Twenty-four-year-old Solomon Douglas Walters was arrested Friday on suspicion of murder.

Officers and paramedics had been called to an extended-stay hotel Thursday with a report of a child not breathing. They performed CPR but could not revive her, and she was declared dead at a hospital.

Police Friday described Walters as the boyfriend of the dead girl’s mother.
